Hal Mcgee has been making noise and producing interesting projects since the early 80s, one of his latest projects is the International Email Audio Art Project (IEAAP, for short). This compiles tracks emailed in from artists all over the world no more than 1 minute long in length.
"The Homemade Music Movement has grown from the roots of the Mail Art Movement, and in order to pay due respect and acknowledge these origins, I propose an international EMAIL audio art project in which contributors will send to me a one-minute miniature audio work in mp3 format (plus visual works if desired) attached to an email. These works will be published together in volumes online."
The track I submitted has been included on volume #1 of this compilation, to find out more please visit the website.
On this volume the only notible names I am familiar with are the excellent Filthy Turd and Cheapmachines. Although I am enjoying listening to loads of new names from across the globe. Names that stood out from the quick listen were Jerk Kerouac, Pregnant Spore and Kristof Lauwers.
