Mach Nausea Review

Mach Nausea Review

New Releases

Thanks to all that came along to the Mikawa show the other week. Really appreciate the support and special thanks to Pete & Steve for organising the event.

3 new tapes available...

BBBlood - Untitled (Beartown Records) c30 - SOLD OUT FROM ME, Try discogs / the label

New Cassette

"Another enthralling expedition into the unknown with the shape-shifting London noise project BBBLOOD.

Fog-laden drones and the clicking whirs of some far-off clockwork mechanisms provide the equilibrium here. Squealing whines, metallic clanging and the intrusions of great static roars provide the disequilibrium.
Side A of this tape is a tense journey from comfortable miasma, through deconstruction, before settling with juddering drones that we all know and love/despise.

Side B takes disorientating stabs of reverberation as its starting point, and degenerates from there. Insectival chatterings create the sonic backdrop for an orchestra of broken fax machines.
Just wonderful.

This release includes monochrome wrap-around cover art and dark blue C30. It is limited to 40 copies."

BBBlood is London noise musician Paul Watson making harsh noise and creeping synth / tape electronics since 2002. Releasing records with varied artists such as Mutant Ape, Green Mist, Rank Sinatra and Towering Breaker and has done several short tours of the UK and Europe. In this release BBBlood displays some of his most focused strange synth sounds and looped samples building up to a final noise assult.

Al Qaeda are a band (not a terrorist group) from San Francisco comprising of Scott, Erin and Eric. Al Qaeda have done collaborations with artists such as Richard Ramirez and are about to embark on a tour with Mike Watt formerly of the Minutemen and Droughter. Their side can be described as a blissful summers day in a field of dreams.

Amazing full colour cover art by Stan Reed (Blue Sabbath Black Cheer). This is the first vinyl release on Trans-dimensional Sushi.

Various Artists - “Noise vs. Subversive Computing”

COMPUTATIONALLY INFEASIBLE RECORDS #001

"Noise vs. Subversive Computing"

“Noise vs. Subversive Computing”

This is the “Noise vs. Subversive Computing” Project: A Collaborative release split between
Noise/Experimental Artists and Subversive Technologists/Computer Hackers. Ten representatives from each camp were asked to contribute a piece of work which could be anything at all: an audio track, a drawing, a written passage, software, video, combination of all that, or anything else that can be converted to binary. The Noisicians had “Subversive Computing” as their central theme, and the Technologists worked with “Noise”.

This is the outcome:

NOISE:

0. BBBlood (UK) - Bicep Venoms Gut Virus [AUDIO]
1. Config.sys (DE) - Bit Bucket [AUDIO]
2. Family Battle Snake (DE) – Black Hat [AUDIO]
3. Francisco Lopez (ES) – Untitled #223 [AUDIO]
4. GEN 26 (SI) - Untitled [AUDIO]
5. Hellboy106 (GR) - stgzknmhtrka [IMAGE+AUDIO]
6. ILIOS (GR) - 4000 cevaloj kriegas Mi ami Vi [AUDIO]
7. KOMMPOUND (GR) - Softmod Exploit [AUDIO+WORDS]
8. La Jacquerie (IT) – Re: If you're angry don’t [AUDIO]
9. Sarah's Charity (DK) - Colour of Clarity [AUDIO]

SUBVERSIVE COMPUTING:

0. Ach3n0r (GR) - Noise Steganography [SOFTWARE]
1. Ashrae |tosh & KaOS| (BE/DK) - Netglitch [AUDIO+WORDS]
2. E (US) - Sifting through the Noise [WORDS]
3. EK (UK) - Rainbow [AUDIO]
4. G0rg0g0l (GR) - Gorgogoogle: Web, Search, Noise [SOFTWARE]
5. Gorrrrgar (RO) - My kind of Shithole [PHOTOGRAPHY MATRIX+WORDS]
6. Jazra Khaleed (GR) - Noise [POEM]
7. Pascal Cretain (DK) - Information Pollution [VIDEO]
8. Rodrigo Marcos (UK) - MySQL Sounds [VIDEO+SOFTWARE]
9. Stelios Douskos (US) - LawyerFish [SOFTWARE]

The merger is truly fascinating; explosive to say the least. The radical thinkers at work in here
have the momentum, the mindset and the technical skills to crash Adaptive Firewalls, defy traditional definitions of music, “hack” live performance semantics and bypass Intrusion Detection Systems. Only this is not Cyberspace. We are subtly injecting polymorphic shellcode into your reality, brainwashing you with white noise and reverse engineering your obsolete modus operandi.

Alas; you can’t pull the plug.

LAUNDRY ROOM SQUELCHERS are a seriously legendary Miami Beach noise outfit featuring Rat Bastard and a revolving cast of non-geek noise enthusiasts like Leslie Keffer and Doug Ferguson which join the lineup on this Euro tour. The band no longer offer their music for sale to the public choosing to concentrate on their super intense, often chaotic, always insane live performance. Expect detuned radios, vocal terror, amp swinging and of course the unexpected. Dylan Nyoukis borrowed the title of one of their songs called ‘Colours Out Of Space’ for his Brighton-based festival of a similar name, where they played in the UK for the first time last year. They're bringing to London their on-going International Noise Conference project, which sees the band host a blitzkrieg party of local improvisers. The only rules are self imposed - All acts play short 15 minutes or less flash sets. No laptops, no mixers and no droning!

Uploads/Downloads/New Stuff

When bored I sometimes search the web for mp3 that other people have uploaded of my material. I don't really have a problem with people downloading my material so I kind of embrace it.

I only really have a problem with downloading if the release is still in stock and you're losing money due to everyone downloading rather than buying, this also annoys me when I see someone uploading a friends release when I know for sure it's still available.

It more so annoys me when you see other people making money out of your releases when you know neither the label or yourself are making any money from it....

Example:

HERE (Not worth viewing really)

From the split CD with Stuntcock, If anyone wants this rather than paying $0.2 per track I'd gladly give them a copy for free!

But anyway there's enough rants online about this topic. I'd like to share with you some of the BBBlood uploads I've found from other people.

New EP 'Flowers' Download (I still have copies and would recommend buying from the label or myself) but someones put it up there.

2006 EP Download Old and out of print, a quite popular release.

"Released earlier this year the bbblood 2006 ep is '6 tracks of all out noise giddiness and putrid fun.'
This was the first release in 2006 by the ever prolific one man mind fuck that is bbblood (aka the baron/baron bum blood ....) and is a self released cdr (also available on c60 tape i think).
The first track, Mystic Quarks takes us on a high pitched pyschadelic wander through white noise and television static. Loud, violent and 'in yer face' yet strangely hypnotic. And thats the case with all 6 tracks. In Felch babies night out bbblood introduces some synth type sounds which melt gradually into the fuzz. The third track Flame Party is less all out noise abuse. Manipulated tapes and contact mic'd percussion of some sort are given the bbblood harsh noise treatment and midway through the track we are treated to a few seconds of calm drone before launching back into bbbloods crazy world of amplified pain and paranoia. The sonic mayhem is explored further in Fake Chinese Spiel and with the distorted samples in Cognitive Disonance. The final track bbblood hates noise cops is 5 and a half minutes of ambient sounds overdriven to the max and looped. A quality harsh noise record"

"Caught in the lethargy of a Summer that just isn’t... the sonics of this split CDr make perfect sense, like viewing a projection through wobbly jelly laced with razors... throwing normality into chewed perceptions, leaving the mind to stilt walk on distended fingers... the landscape a pearling treacle, leaking from the wounds of trees... drenched in an unholy communion of machine innards and looped cul de sacs ----> void reaching ----> time breaching. I’ll be listening to this for years to come..."

- Rotten Meats.

Monstres par Excès

I should be receiving copies some time soon. Message/Email for info, I don't know how many copies I'll be getting and it's a limited release. Might even be sold out by the time I publish this post, so it's best to contact the label.

Yep, it is sold out and I only got 2 artist copies. Hopefully someone may upload it in the future.

What's next? The God Willing / Unicorn Hard-On / Family Battle Snake gig is next week, I'm recording / rehearsing like mad. Then comes the Fecalove gig that we're putting on. I'm hoping to post the flyer up this week and get the whole promotion ball rolling. Also some really awesome releases are in the pipeline. When information is available I'll pass it on.

Also if anyone is interested I've added all the Old posts that was only on my Myspace blog.

Rehearsing + Updates

Just uploaded a video of my rehearsal from last week in preparation for the upcoming shows. Using some new gear, sounding OK so far.

Watching this video again and then watching what other people do with a Micro Korg is quite funny. I've had my Korg for about 2 years now and I've only really just started to use it for noises.
